I’ve been hanging out for a bit with the idea of pondering. “to think carefully about something.” Mary, the mother of Jesus understood the power in pondering.

Luke 2:19 “But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.”

I imagine so, as a teenager, in a society that would potentially stone her for the sin of sexual immorality, it had to be something that took some time to digest.

I know there are times in my life, that the reality of what I understood God to be sharing, and calling me to, gave me pause. There is power in pondering, it’s not an outright rejection, but a careful consideration of your circumstance, of your reality. It’s making room for the Holy Spirit to confirm and direct you to know and trust the vision, and direction of the journey God is calling you on.

I’m being challenged currently, and find myself at a point of pondering. As you hear the call of God on your life, make space to ponder, it will cause change.
