Have you ever read scripture, and had to step back and figure out how God wants you to integrate it into your will, and life?
That’s what I’ve been, and still am struggling with over the past few weeks.
Malachi 3:5 I will come to you in Judgement, …against those who oppress the hired worker, the widow, and the fatherless; and against those who deny justice to the resident alien.
I know I live in a place of opportunity, that I as a middle white class person, don’t truly understand those that come from an oppressive country, fleeing situations I’ve never experienced. They come to the United States, hoping for better for themselves, their children, their lives.
If I’m transparent, before I read this verse in Malachi, I didn’t really think about my role in this dream. I’m still working through how I can welcome, and help those coming in. Not wanting to give hand-outs, but a hand up.
More to come on this, as I consider what it means for me in this scenario to BE the church, rather than just GO to church…
