Introduction
Acts: 9:10 Now there was a certain disciple in Damascus named Ananias, and to him the Lord said in a vision “Ananias”. and he said “Here I am, Lord.”
By way of introduction, I want to be known as a man that when I hear the call, answers “yes Lord.”
This is a large part of the reason for this blog. I feel I have things to share about my life journey and personal growth in my relationship with Jesus. I’m a pretty simple man, and as I begin to understand something I work to integrate it into my life. I stumble, I mess up things, but I hope I’m falling forward.
In my life, prayer has become my main connection to God. I know others that feel this connection through music, and worship, or through dancing before the Lord. I feel a deep connection with the Lord, while I’m in prayer. I look at prayer as communication. One of the challenges I’m working to integrate into my prayer is making space to hear.
To my mind, when I’m talking to a friend, or family member, the discussion flows between us. I make that part of my prayer practice as well. I like the idea of “hush-pause” and use that not just in my prayer closet, but in my life in general. Stop, listen, and answer Yes Lord.
Hush Pause -/- Ephesians 4:3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Let’s give some thought to unity, first with God. Unity can be difficult; it takes some courage to listen and understand the heart and will of people you’re in relationship with. It can be the same with God. It’s amazing to think that God chooses to act through his people. Remember what’s bound on earth is bound in heaven, and what’s loosed on earth is loosed in heaven (Matthew 6:19). God has chosen to act through His people. I think that means we have a responsibility to take the time to understand that amazing part of our relationship. I encourage you, to hush, pause… and listen.
After all prayer is at its core communication, a conversation if you will. Too often we pray, give our list of needs, and then hang up. Please make time to hush, pause… during your prayer time, seeking God’s heart and will. How does he want to work through us? How do we know the heart of someone unless we listen. I encourage you all during this week, to provide God space during your quiet times in prayer with Him, to speak into you. His word promises us that is His desire.
2 Chronicles 7:15 Now my eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayers made in this place.
